The saying that “mama always knows best” might have proved itself to be true during the 2015 NFL draft.
According to CBS Sports, when the Miami Dolphins drafted wide receiver DeVante Parker with the 14th pick, there was a major sigh of relief from his mother.
We didn’t want him going to Cleveland,” Raneca Parker, DeVante’s mom said. “They don’t have a team, really, or a quarterback. I knew I didn’t want the Cleveland Browns.
After we doused the Browns with water to recover from that burn, I doubt anyone within the organization took it personally.
Still, Parker’s mom isn’t necessarily wrong here. Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel remain the team’s two top quarterbacks after the draft.
I know the teams he could go to and the teams he couldn’t go to, Raneca added. We were happy with the Miami Dolphins. He was very ecstatic. We’re happy, we love the weather.
Maybe she just really doesn’t like Cleveland. My mother would be pumped no matter where I went in the NFL draft. But that’s just me.
Parker accumulated 2,775 yards and 33 touchdowns during his Louisville career. He’ll now have a chance to catch passes from the strong-armed Ryan Tannehill in Miami.
That should be fun.
