Detroit Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs will miss the remainder of his rookie season with a torn left ACL.

Undrafted out of Arkansas, Jacobs was making his ninth straight start Sunday at Denver when a teammate rolled into his leg on the fifth play of the game.

The 24-year-old Jacobs announced the extent of his injury Monday on social media.

“It pains me to announce that I have suffered an ACL injury,” he posted on Twitter, in part. “This is a minor setback for a major comeback. I can’t wait to get back on the field and play for the best fans in the NFL. Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.”

Jacobs finishes the season with 34 tackles (three for losses), seven passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 13 games (nine starts).

Nickell Robey-Coleman will likely replace Jacobs when the Lions (1-11-1) resume their season Sunday against the visiting Arizona Cardinals.
