NFL insider suggests Denver Broncos could part with Pro Bowl receiver

Many felt the Denver Broncos almost had an embarrassment of riches when it came to their receiver talent heading into last season. With players such as Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, and KJ Hamler all set for roles in some capacity, the Broncos appeared ready to lead a stampede against any opponent who dared get in the way.

Yet, the end result was much different, as Patrick ended up tearing his ACL during training camp, and Hamler was also limited to just seven games.

Still, Jeudy came just 28 yards away from a 1,000-yard season, and Sutton wasn’t far behind, finishing with 829 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games. Yet, the Broncos finished 19th in passing yards and 23rd in passing touchdowns as they led a league-worst scoring attack.

Now, facing a similar situation heading into 2023, with a corps led by Jeudy and Sutton, complemented by the returns of Patrick and Hamler, the Broncos once again appear to have a deep pool of talent on their receiver depth chart.

Yet, the team obviously has plenty of other needs, which could lead to one player getting the boot.

According to Sportsnaut’s NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, Courtland Sutton could be the receiver the Broncos decide to part with this offseason.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if (the Broncos) ultimately dealt Courtland Sutton, got back a Day 3 draft pick out of it.”

It would seem like a team could get more than just a late-round draft pick for a 6-foot-4 receiver who’s already proven he can be a productive player. Especially considering he’s just 27 years old, but he’s also not exactly cheap.

We’ll see if the Broncos, who have just five picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, look to get creative as they look to inject more youth into their roster later in April.
