Dennis Rodman’s North Korea trip funded by online marijuana currency company

NBA legend Dennis Rodman is in North Korea. Just how is this trip being funded? According to a statement on its website, Potcoin — which identifies itself as “community-based cryptocurrency for legalized marijuana” is funding the trip.

That certainly isn’t what would be normally expected. But nothing about Rodman going to North Korea is exactly normal. So, from that respect, a unique sponsor is only fitting.

Rodman was grateful for the opportunity.

“I’m really looking forward to spending time with the wonderful people of North Korea and of course, visiting with the Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Un. I want to thank the folks at PotCoin” Rodman said in the official statement. “They realized the importance of this trip and made it all possible for me.”

According to a 2013 piece from Hunter Stuart of the Huffington Post, “North Korea either has no law against the sale and consumption of weed, or it has a law that is largely unenforced.”

One can only wonder what’s going on with Rodman and Un behind closed doors.
