The Houston Dash acquired 2021 NWSL Defender of the Year Caprice Dydasco in a trade Friday with NJ/NY Gotham FC.

Houston will send $120,000 in allocation money to Gotham, plus up to an additional $30,000 if certain conditions are met.

“We are excited to have Caprice join us in Houston and are thrilled that she wants to be a part of this project,” Dash president Jessica O’Neill said. “Her commitment to the vision of the Dash will be vital in our success. We are looking forward to the experience and leadership Caprice brings as we continue to push toward our first playoff appearance in club history.”

Dydasco, 29, is in her sixth season in the NWSL. She started all 13 of her appearances this season with Gotham.

The Honolulu native starred at UCLA before being selected with the 19th pick in the 2015 draft by the Washington Spirit.
