Daniel Jones would ‘be ready to go’ in Week 1 if Giants need him, OC says

At least one NFL team reportedly wanted Daniel Jones to try out as a tight end at the combine, but the New York Giants are putting in hard work selling him as a franchise quarterback.

So much so that offensive coordinator Mike Shula said he thinks Jones could start for Big Blue in Week 1 if the Giants needed him to.

“I think he’d be ready to go, that’s my personal opinion,” Shula said, via Tom Rock of Newsday. “I think he has that capability.”

Well, looking at this hype video the Giants shared on Twitter it’s easy to see why.

Those were some high-quality check-downs. He’s clearly ready.

All kidding aside, New York is serious about selling Jones as the future franchise quarterback. Most don’t agree with the team, including many of its fans.

At the least, taking him at No. 6 was a massive reach. And everything the team has done to hype the rookie quarterback since then just seems hollow.
