By now, we’ve all heard the story. Cleveland Browns defensive back Damarious Randall tweeted that if the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, he’d buy a jersey for anyone who retweeted him. That tweet has become immensely popular.
In fact, from May 23-May 29, no tweet was retweeted more.
Twitter now confirms this is the most retweeted tweet in the United States from the time period of May 23-May 29. https://t.co/2SCWngqjHL

What’s interesting is that Randall’s tweet was made at night on May 28. So, his tweet got more retweet action than others that were up for more than five days longer. That’s impressive.
The number presently sits at just under 850,000 and only figures to go up from here.
The Golden State Warriors can save Randall a lot of money by downing the Cavs. If Cleveland wins, Randall’s going to learn a very hard lesson about putting his money where his mouth is, even with a big discount.
Though, at this point it’s hardly surprising that Randall has since said it was all a big joke.
