Dallas Cowboys’ Damontae Kazee arrested for DUI Tuesday morning

Fresh off a 5-1 start to the season, the Dallas Cowboys entered their bye in good spirits. Unfortunately, it appears that new safety Damontae Kazee is on the verge of changing that vibe.

Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the former Atlanta Falcons star was arrested early Tuesday morning in the Dallas suburb of The Colony for a DUI.

“A spokesperson from The Colony police said that an officer reported noticing physical signs that Kazee had been drinking, and Kazee told the officer he had consumed alcohol,” the report read. “Kazee failed a field sobriety test and was detained. His DWI charge is a Class B misdemeanor for a first offense.”

Ultimately, Kazee posted a $2,500 bond and was released from The Colony Municipal Jail around noon local time.

A free-agent signing this past spring, the 28-year-old Damontae Kazee has been a major part of the Cowboys’ rebuilt defense. He’s started all six games this season, registering 17 tackles, three passes defended an interception and a fumble recovery.

The former San Diego State star will obviously face discipline from the NFL moving forward. It remains to be seen when that might happen.
