Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott suffers calf injury, could miss multiple weeks

Dallas-Cowboys-Dak-Prescott

Dak Prescott and his Dallas Cowboys pulled off a dramatic overtime win over the Patriots in New England on Sunday.

For the 5-1 Cowboys, it was a mistake-filled game that culminated in a Prescott touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb for the win in the extra stanza.

Unfortunately for both the quarterback and his team, Prescott suffered a right calf strain on that final play and will be evaluated again on Monday.

First off, there’s some decent news on this front for the Cowboys. They have a bye next week before taking on the Minnesota Vikings Halloween night.

Now, to the bad news. Typically, calf strains are multi-week injuries. For example, Prescott’s teammate Michael Gallup has missed the past four games after suffering a strain to his calf Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Of course, further testing is going to be needed here to find out the extent of the strain. There’s different types of strains, which could impact how long Prescott is out or whether he misses any action.

The 28-year-old quarterback has been absolutely stellar since returning from the devastating ankle injury he suffered around this time a season ago.

Through six games, Dak Prescott has thrown for north of 1,800 yards to go with 16 touchdowns against four interceptions. He has his Cowboys in the midst of a five-game winning streak and is squarely in the NFL MVP conversation.
