Until Christian McCaffrey set a new market this past spring, Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott was the NFL’s highest-paid running back.

On Tuesday, Elliott had the experience of seeing just how much that huge contract of his is being absorbed by the United States government. After sending in his check to pay his taxes off, he sent out a hilarious tweet to commemorate the event.

How much is Ezekiel Elliott’s contract worth?

Last summer, Elliott held out of training camp and went down to Cabo while he pressed his advantage for a long-term contract. The Cowboys ultimately relented and made him the NFL’s highest-paid running back.

The contract Elliott and the ‘Boys agreed to pays him a stunning $90 million over six years. The total amount is still the highest of any NFL running back. Elliott’s $15 million-per-year average ranks second in the league behind McCaffrey, who’s making just over $16 million per year.

Needless to say, that tax bill had to sting.
