Cowboys new practice facility to cost $1.5 billion

Jerry Jones

The Dallas Cowboys are building a new practice facility. The facility itself is apparently going to run up quite the tab at about $1.5 billion.

There can’t be many teams that practice at a facility that’s more expensive than their actual home stadium, especially when the stadium in question cost $1.2 billion to erect.

Valerie Wigglesworth of the Dallas Morning News has also reported that while the Cowboys will foot the majority of the bill, it will be partially shared by the city of Frisco and the local school district.

“The city’s contribution in The Star is capped at $60 million while the school district put in $30 million. The Cowboys are funding the remaining amount, including the extra $6 million approved Tuesday to finish the space for the members-only Cowboys Club inside the complex.”

Still, a little perspective is needed here.

The Star will not only be a training facility for the Cowboys. According to the Dallas Morning News, it will also include a members-only club, a 16-story hotel and a sports medicine center, among other things.
