Short of something extraordinary happening in Week 17, the Dallas Cowboys are going to miss the playoffs and likely be looking for a new head coach this offseason.

Dallas had an opportunity to clinch the NFC East against the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday. The team fell flat in a 17-9 loss.

Dallas now needs to defeat Washington next week and hope for the Giants to take out the Eagles in order to sneak into the playoffs.

In talking about his team’s coaching situation, star running back Ezekiel Elliott had no interest in speculating. The Pro Bowler indicated that it would be inappropriate to discuss a potential coaching change.

That’s the best way Elliott could have gone about it without throwing his full support behind Jason Garrett.

At this point, both the players and the coach have to know the writing is on the wall here.

Dallas fell to 7-8 following Sunday’s loss and has dropped eight of 12 since a 3-0 start to the season.
