The Colorado Rockies released veteran first baseman Matt Adams on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Adams was just 6-for-36 (.167) in 22 games with Colorado.

The Rockies recalled infielder Rio Ruiz in a corresponding move.

Adams has hit 118 homers in parts of 10 seasons but the power stroke has diminished since he hit 20 for the Washington Nationals in 2019. He had two homers in 49 at-bats with the Atlanta Braves last season and failed to go deep with the Rockies.

The 27-year-old Ruiz batted .167 with three homers and six RBIs in 32 games for the Baltimore Orioles earlier this season. He was designated for assignment and picked up on waivers by the Rockies.
