Former Oregon Ducks star wide receiver Keanon Lowe is being touted as a hero in his home state after potentially help ward off a shooting at Parkrose High School.

According to Oregon Live, reports of a man with a gun near the school tennis court came trickling in. Lowe, who starred at Oregon from 2011-14, tackled the gunman and subdued him until authorities arrived.

“An online city dispatch tracker refers to the incident as a suicide attempt or threat with weapon,” the report read. “A parent said students reported that the suspect, a fellow student, had brought a gun to the school with the intention of committing suicide. A source said the suspect had a shotgun.”

There’s been no other information made available regarding the shooting.

What we do know is that Lowe is a true legend in the area after helping Marcus Mariota lead the Ducks to two Rose Bowl titles. He’s currently a football coach at the high school in question.
