College football world reacts to Iowa's stunning announcement

The University of Iowa made a stunning announcement on Thursday that sent the college football world into a frenzy on social media.

This is absolutely stunning news, as Iowa’s date of June 1 is by far the earliest any big school has announced athletics will resume. Other schools have talked about opening up later this summer and fall. But Iowa is taking quite a bold stance here as America remains embroiled in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not surprisingly, the college football world had some strong reactions to this announcement.

Many coaches, btw, had been anticipating a return by early to mid July.

This should also tell you that on-campus classes aren't required to have athletic functions. That was a big storyline on the Pence call 2 weeks ago. An SEC source had told me then that it was overblown.
