Duke Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski has been around the game for more than 40 seasons as a coach. After recruiting some of the best basketball players ever during his coaching career, Coach K said it’s Kobe Bryant that always stood out the most.

During an appearance Wednesday on The Dan Patrick Show, Coach K said that Kobe is the best high school player he ever watched.

Coach K cited Kobe’s maturity, a competitive arrogance and talent that was off the charts

Coming out of Lower Merion High School in 1996, Bryant always had his focus set on the NBA. Coach K told The Dan Patrick Show that they recruited Kobe before he made the move to the NBA, but the Los Angeles Lakers legend never took any official visits.

The appreciation was clearly mutual as Kobe said in 2017 that he would have gone to Duke if the NBA wasn’t an option.
