Clayton Kershaw Throws No Hitter Against the Colorado Rockies

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw just completed a no-hitter against the division-rival Colorado Rockies. He struck out 15 batters while walking no one in the 8-0 win. Colorado’s only base runner came on a Hanley Ramirez error in the seventh inning.

If it wasn’t for that Ramirez error, Kershaw would have completed a perfect game.

It’s the second no-hitter in MLB this season. Interestingly enough, the first one came when Dodgers righty Josh Beckett defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-0 late last month.

Prior to Beckett’s no-hitter, the last Dodger to accomplish that feat was Hideo Nomo back in 1996. With Kershaw’s gem, they now have two in the last month. It’s the first time in franchise history that two Dodgers’ pitchers have thrown a no-hitter in the same season since Carl Erskine and Sal Maglie back in 1956.
