Cincinnati Reds All-Star outfielder Nick Castellanos was activated from the injured list prior to Thursday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Castellanos has been sidelined due to a microfracture of his right wrist.
Castellanos is batting third and playing right field Thursday against the Pirates.
The 29-year-old Castellanos was hit by a pitch on the wrist on July 16 during the club’s first game following the All-Star Break. He last played on July 19.
Castellanos leads the National League in batting at .329. He also has 18 homers and 59 RBIs in 86 games.
Cincinnati optioned infielder Max Schrock to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old Shrock is batting .311 with two homers and seven RBIs in 22 games with the Reds this season.
