Philadelphia Eagles defensive end continues to be a busy man off the field. One of the NFL’s most vocal and active advocates for societal change, he has been putting his money where his mouth is in a big way the past few years.
His latest venture has Long and four fellow NFL players — Fletcher Cox, Beau Allen, and Andrew Whitworth — distributing 27,600 new books to children across four cities.
The effort is part of Long’s “First Quarter for Literacy Week,” per Tim McManus of ESPN, and will provide books to underserved children in Tampa, Los Angeles, Mississippi and New York.
