The Kansas City Chiefs have no intention of letting superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill hit the open market and are working on securing him long term.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the team has begun negotiating with Hill on “what’ll be a record-setting deal.”

For the record, Odell Beckham Jr. currently has the record after signing a monster deal last summer ($18 million per-year average and $40.959 million fully guaranteed).

In no way is this surprising news. Hill is one of the most electric and dangerous playmakers in the NFL. On any given play, he can go the distance for six points, and his chemistry with big-armed quarterback Patrick Mahomes is undeniable.

In his first three years as a pro, the former fifth-round pick out of West Alabama has racked up 3,255 yards and 25 touchdowns on 223 receptions, averaging 14.6 yards per catch.

Last year, Hill set career highs with 87 catches for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Hill is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is set to earn just under $2 million in 2019.
