Chicago Bears HC Matt Nagy tests positive for COVID-19

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has tested positive for COVID-19, joining four players in a worsening outbreak of the coronavirus.

In the last 10 days, the Bears placed five players on the NFL”s reserve/COVID-19 list. It began with running back Damien Williams on Oct. 14, who just returned on Sunday, and quickly spread to multiple players in the locker room.

Chicago placed starting right tackle Elijah Wilkinson and rookie linebacker Caleb Johnson on the COVID list just hours before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Earlier in the week, tight end Jimmy Graham and edge rusher Robert Quinn tested positive for COVID-19.

Nagy announced Monday that he tested positive for the coronavirus, joining wide receivers coach Mike Furrey as the second member of the coaching staff to contract the virus within the past week. Under NFL rules, the Bears will likely need to ender the heightened protocols with more restrictions at the team’s facility.
