The Charlotte Hornets waived forward Wes Iwundu on Monday, bringing their active roster to the NBA limit ahead of Wednesday night’s season-opener against the Indiana Pacers.

NBA rosters are limited to 15 during the season, along with two players on two-way (developmental) deals.

The Hornets acquired Iwundu on Aug. 7 as part of a three-team trade that sent Devonte Graham to New Orleans and brought the Hornets a protected 2022 first-round draft pick and cash considerations.

In his four-year career since the Magic drafted him in the second round out of Kansas State, the 6-foot-6 Iwundu has played in 223 games (50 starts) averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds a game.

Following three seasons with Orlando, Iwundu played for Dallas and New Orleans last season when he averaged 13 minutes of action in 41 appearances, scoring 2.4 points and 1.0 rebounds a game. In the preseason, he appeared in four games for Charlotte, averaging 0.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 11.0 minutes.
