The Los Angeles Chargers are going to have to eventually find a replacement for borderline future Hall of Fame quarterback Philip Rivers.

That’s why the team was intrigued by Texas Tech product Patrick Mahomes during the 2017 NFL Draft.

Now two years removed from that, Los Angeles finds itself in even more of a need to acquire that franchise quarterback.

According to Jim Trotter of NFL Media, Los Angeles met with reigning Heisman winner Kyler Murray during the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. Not only that, the team’s brass came away impressed.

It would take a major miracle for the Chargers to land Murray at No. 28 overall in April’s draft. The more likely scenario is this team offering up a huge haul to move into the top-five for the quarterback.

Even then, recent suggestions are that the Arizona Cardinals are eyeing Murray with the first overall selection.

It’s also interesting to note that the Chargers came away impressed with Murray. Reports during the combine indicated that Murray’s interviews left a lot to be desired.
