Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung

Nearly three months after Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung revealed he suffered a pulmonary embolism, he announced on Thursday that he’s now nearing a return to the field.

In a statement released on Twitter, Okung announced that he will officially return to football and it could happen as early as this week against the Tennessee Titans.

The two-time Pro Bowl tackle’s return to the game is outstanding news given the severity of the condition. Fortunately, excellent treatment and attention will now allow him to return to the field in the near future.

Okung’s return would be outstanding news for Los Angeles. It can activate him off the reserve/non-football injury list, and if he’s cleared for game action, it would be an immediate upgrade at left tackle for the Chargers.
