Chargers legend Dan Fouts would ‘love to see’ Philip Rivers stay with the franchise

Philip Rivers

If NFL Hall of Famer Dan Fouts had his way, there wouldn’t be a question about whether Philip Rivers would continue playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020.

Speaking on the Darren Smith Show in San Diego on XTRA1360, Fouts made it clear he wants to see Rivers in powder blue once more.

Fouts is a Chargers legend, having played his entire career with the franchise. Rivers has put together a career that could perhaps get him into the Hall of Fame one day as well. So it’s not surprising that Fouts wants to see Rivers close out his career with the Chargers.

Whether that’s realistic or not remains to be seen. The Chargers have been tight-lipped about any future plans, but plenty of reports have suggested Rivers’ time with the organization is at an end.

After his final game of the 2019 season, Rivers himself seemed to understand that it may be time to move on. Regardless, he intends on playing next season, and it stands to reason he’ll start somewhere despite a very down year.
