Just when Boston Celtics All-Star forward Gordon Hayward started to hit his stride, he’s now been dealt another devastating blow.

The Boston Celtics announced Hayward suffered a fractured left hand during Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Hayward entered Saturday’s action in the midst of his best season since joining the Celtics. He averaged 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists in the team’s first seven games this season and recently came off a 39-point performance on Nov. 5.

It’s also a devastating blow for a team that was clicking. Boston came into the weekend with a 6-1 record and sat atop the Eastern Conference. Now Hayward will be sidelined indefinitely and his absence will have ramifications that impact the Celtics for weeks to come.
