Carson Wentz still not cleared for contact, Pederson doesn’t know when that will change

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has still yet to be cleared for contact, just two weeks before the team’s Week 1 opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

Head coach Doug Pederson revealed this information on Sunday, and he did not know when things might change.

Given the way Nick Foles has struggled this preseason, the Eagles would no doubt love to be able to open the season with Wentz under center. He hasn’t had any setbacks in his recovery, but it’s important to note that his initial injury occurred less than nine months ago, which would be an extremely quick turnaround from an ACL tear.

Wentz has maintained he’s aiming to start in Week 1, but time is running out for that to become reality. The Eagles have continued to preach patience on this matter, making it clear that long-term health is much more important that short-term potential gains.
