Carolina Panthers will host prom of S.C. high school ravaged by tornado

The Carolina Panthers have met a huge need in their community.

North Central High School in South Carolina was devastated by a tornado a few weeks ago, and according to WIS News the Panthers have stepped in to help the students by hosting the junior and senior prom this March.

Students arrived at their auditorium on Friday and were surprised by “Panthers themed music and lights,” along with the announcement that the NFL franchise would host the prom at the Panthers’ Atrium Health Dome indoor practice facility on Monday, March 30.

Not surprisingly, students were floored: “I was speechless, I was shocked,” Star Shaw, a senior, said. “I was like, our senior prom is going to be in Charlotte at the Carolina practice stadium?! That is unbelievable.”

In addition to hosting the prom, the Panthers donated equipment to the weight room, along with 50 used practice uniforms worn by Panthers star players. And to top it all off, the team will charter all the students going to the prom in March, and the school will allow them to show up late the next day.

Pretty awesome story. Kids who thought their prom was ruined will now have an experience to remember for the rest of their lives.
