Carolina Panthers sign former first-round pick Eli Apple

Free agent cornerback Eli Apple will remain in the NFC South. He agreed to sign with the Carolina Panthers, the franchise announced Thursday.

Eli Apple agrees to terms with the Panthers

Previously, Apple played with the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants. Originally a first-round pick out of Ohio State, Apple was traded to New Orleans midway through the 2018 season. He had a rough early go of it in New York and was accused of being a “cancer” before turning things around.

Last season in New Orleans, Apple played very well for the Saints. He started 15 games in 2019, tallying 58 tackles, four passes defensed and one forced fumble.
