Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Jermiah Braswell was arrested and charged with OVI (Operating a Vehicle while under the Influence of alcohol or drugs of abuse) after crashing his Chevrolet Camaro into Lake Erie Friday evening.

Jermiah Braswell told police he didn’t know how his car got into Lake Erie

According to Put-In-Bay Police, Braswell was driving his Camaro when it careened off the road and into Lake Erie.

Per 13abc.com, “Witnesses tell police the Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed over a long grassy area and ‘flew off the embankment into the lake.'”

“As officers went into the water and approached the Camaro, they found the driver was still in the driver’s seat trying to drive forward. He told officers that he was ‘stuck’ and didn’t know what happened,” the news release from Put-In-Bay Police shared (h/t 13abc.com). “As officers spoke with the driver, they noticed that his speech was slurred and he was unable to explain how his Camaro ended up in the water.”

A blood-alcohol test was conducted on the scene, and Braswell was found to be over the legal limit for the state of Ohio.

Pictures from the aftermath of the crash show just how lucky Braswell was to walk away unscathed.

An undrafted rookie out of Youngstown State, Braswell totaled 51 receptions for 986 yards and 11 touchdowns in four college seasons.
