As NFL teams prepare for an uncertain 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations are also trying to figure out how to handle fan attendance this year. Fortunately, Buffalo Bills fans in Canada received some good news on Monday.

Buffalo Bills will refund Canadian ticket holders if travel prevented

The United States extended its border closure with Canada in early June and the stoppage on nonessential travel could now continue through July. While many have already been impacted by the closing of the border, a hit could be looming for the Buffalo Bills.

The team has benefited from NFL fans in Canada traveling to New Era Field to watch the Bills for years. Now with the border potentially being closed and travel restricted, the club could lose out on an estimated 2,000 season-ticket holders from Canada.

Fortunately for those fans, per the Toronto Sun, the Bills will refund any tickets to fans in Canada who aren’t able to attend games this season if travel restrictions are still in place.

The decision could prove costly for the Bills, especially given attendance is expected to be extremely limited early on during the 2020 season. The club will be able to make some of the money back through a creative method, but New Era Field clearly won’t be as loud and wild as we’re used to seeing.
