Browns release statement on Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns are obviously not pleased by the continued negative publicity surrounding Johnny Manziel.

After his latest brush with the law, the organization released a statement that seems to suggest he’s going to be axed as soon as is possible by the league, which would be Feb. 8.

ESPN is reporting the Browns will, indeed, move on from Manziel on March 9, however, after their salary cap opens up at the start of the new league year.

Manziel’s latest incident involves a continued investigation into possible assault against his girlfriend, which also included a helicopter chase. It wasn’t the first time he’d been involved in a domestic dispute, and his off-field issues with alcohol and Las Vegas are well documented.

Hue Jackson, new head coach, has made it abundantly clear he has no desire to work with a troublemaker.

It seems clear the Browns are going to move on as soon as possible, which makes one wonder who in their right mind would take a chance on bringing Manziel into their locker room at this time?
