It’s no secret Josh Gordon and Johnny Manziel are friends, which seems to be a sore spot for some in the Cleveland Browns organization.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the team wants Gordon to make an adjustment to his relationship with the troubled former Browns quarterback.
Gordon is back in the NFL after being suspended for the entire 2015 season after alcohol showed up in one of his drug tests last year. His reinstatement is conditional, however, and he will begin the season on a four-game suspension, likely stemming from a false-positive drug test earlier this year.
Needless to say, one more hiccup could mean the end of Gordon’s tenure in Cleveland, if not the NFL as a whole.
One of the most talented young receivers in the NFL, Gordon wowed in 2013 by leading the league in receiving yards (1,646) while catching 87 passes, including nine touchdowns. This was all the more impressive because he was playing with mediocre quarterbacks and because he missed two games that year.
Now under new leadership with head coach Hue Jackson, the Browns would love to get Gordon back to that type of production playing opposite rookie Corey Coleman. But he’ll need to stay out of trouble in order to facilitate this, and these days, it seems like Manziel is nothing but trouble.
