Browns’ Freddie Kitchens will not give up play-calling duties

First-year Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens has struggled big time calling plays through the first three games of the season.

That reared its ugly head in a narrow loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Specifically, Kitchens was ripped for calling a draw out of the shotgun on fourth-and-nine in the fourth quarter.

Kitchens also got criticism for calling multiple pass plays in a goal-to-go situation with the game on the line late in the fourth quarter.

One day after dropping their second of three games to open the season, Kitchens took to the media to indicate that he’s not giving up play-calling duties.

That’s not going to sit well with Browns fans. After all, the Browns rank 26th in scoring offense and have put up the 10th-fewest yards in the NFL.

Given the talent Cleveland boasts on offense, this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, the Browns’ next four games come against teams that rank in the top half of the NFL on defense.

This includes matchups against the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers, who rank No. 1 and No. 2 in total defense.
