Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving left Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Bulls early in the third quarter with a facial contusion after a hard collision under the basket.

With about 10 minutes remaining, Irving took a hard shot to the face from Chicago center Nikola Vucevic’s left elbow as both players jockeyed for a rebound off a missed 3-pointer by Blake Griffin. Irving was down on the sideline for a few minutes before walking to the locker room.

You can watch the video below.

Almost immediately, the Nets ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

This is even more unfortunate injury news around the NBA during a season that has been defined by star players missing a ton of action.

As for Kyrie Irving and his Nets, injuries have also been the name of the game. Since acquiring James Harden in a trade early in the season, the star trio of Irving, Harden and Kevin Durant have suited up in less than 10 games together.

Harden is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and there’s no timeline for his return,. Further updates should be provided on Irving here soon.

Boasting a 45-24 record following Tuesday’s win over the Chicago Bulls, these Nets are likely going to be the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. They have just three games remaining in the regular season.
