Restricted free agent running back Phillip Lindsay is free to sign elsewhere after the Denver Broncos rescinded their one-year qualifying offer, agent Mike McCartney said Thursday.
“After great conversations with the @Broncos, it’s been mutually decided that rescinding the RFA Tender is best for both Phillip Lindsay and the team. It’s been a great 3 years in Denver for @I_CU_boy. Nothing beats seeing @EmpowerField rocking as it did when #30 broke a long run,” McCartney said via Twitter.

Lindsay responded with a statement of his own, calling his three years with the Broncos a dream come true.
“I’m very appreciative for my time with the Denver Broncos. As a Colorado kid, I was able to fulfill my dream of playing for my home team. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, staff and everyone involved in the Broncos organization who made this possible for me,” Lindsay said in a Twitter post.
Lindsay rushed for 2,550 yards and 17 touchdowns in three seasons with the Broncos after starring at Colorado. At 5-feet-8, 190, he was considered undersized by NFL running back prototype standards but gained over 1,000 yards in 2018 and again in 2019.
A hip injury cut his 2020 season short. Lindsay played in only 11 games but averaged 4.3 yards on 118 carries (502 rushing yards).
Melvin Gordon, signed prior to the 2020 season, led Denver in rushing last season with 986 yards on 215 carries.
