WATCH: Boston Red Sox’s Justin Turner hit in face with pitch during spring training game

Exhibition baseball games during spring training aren’t about the final score or how many wins you get. It’s all about working out the kinks as athletes round into form. We saw an unfortunate result of that process on Monday afternoon, directly impacting Justin Turner of the Boston Red Sox.

Brace yourself. This one is hard to watch.

Obviously, Turner had to leave the game after this fateful pitch, which caused him to bleed.

In stable condition, the Red Sox announced Turner has been transported to a Florida area hospital to receive further treatment in addition to undergoing more testing as doctors try and determine the damage. They are also trying to assess whether the two-time All-Star suffered a concussion or not.

Turner, 38, is getting ready to begin his first season with the Red Sox after nine joyous years with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hopefully this incident won’t cause any setbacks for the 2020 World Series winner.
