The Chicago Blackhawks signed defenseman Ethan Del Mastro to a three-year entry-level contract on Friday.

The 2021 fourth-round draft pick’s deal carries an annual cap hit of $878,333.

Del Mastro, 19, tallied 48 points (seven goals, 41 assists) in 68 games this season with Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League.

“Ethan has made tremendous strides in his game over the last few years,” Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said. “He has really opened our eyes as he showcased a poise with the puck and ability to make plays on the rush this season. Combining those traits with an already strong defensive mentality gives us hope that there is still plenty of room for progression and growth in his game.”

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Ontario native registered seven assists and no goals in 57 games in his first season with Mississauga in 2019-20.
