The last time the Cincinnati Bengals won a playoff game, quarterback Andy Dalton had just turned three years old. Twenty four years later, Dalton has failed to lead his Bengals to a single playoff victory in four attempts.
Their latest mishap came against the AFC South champion Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. The fourth-year quarterback completed 18-of-35 passes for just 155 yards with zero touchdowns and one turnover. After yet another poor postseason outing, Dalton has now thrown one touchdown in 158 career postseason pass attempts. During that span, the Bengals have put up 43 points in four playoff games.
Yeah, it’s pretty bad.
Indianapolis didn’t play great all-around football in this one, but it was able to coast to a 26-10 victory behind fourĀ Adam Vinatieri field goals and 376 passing yards from Andrew Luck.
Defensively, the Colts held Cincinnati to 6-of-15 on third-down conversions and an average of 13.9 yards in the Bengals final 10 drives of the game. It was complete and utter domination on that side of the ball.
With the Victory, Andrew Luck and company now travel to Denver to face off with former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning for a chance to play in the AFC Championship game. For the Bengals, it’s now all about turning the page after yet another premature playoff exit.
