On Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks locked up one of the key members of their rotation with a long-term extension.
This afternoon, the Atlanta Hawks took a step to solidify their nightly rotation for years to come when ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that the organization and six-man Bogdan Bogdanovic had come to terms on a four-year extension worth as much as $68 million.

Following the original report, Wojnarowski added that Bogdanovic also declined his $18 million player option for next season, and his new deal will begin with the 2023-2024 season. Under the terms of his new contract, he will make a million less next season, but the chances of more long-term contractual stability clearly appealed to the 30-year-old and his representation.
Atlanta Hawks record (’22-’23): 34-35
After the Atlanta Hawks traded for star guard Dejounte Murray in the summer, Bogdanovic was demoted from being the team’s starting shooting guard to a bench role in 2022-2023. The Serbian has handled the role well as his minutes have only slightly dipped compared to last season, but he is still scoring at a similar rate to what he has throughout his three years in Atlanta.
Bogdan Bogdanovic hit a peak during his first season with the Atlanta Hawks — after three years with the Sacramento Kings — when he averaged just over 16 points a game and was a key contributor in the team’s surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2020-2021 season.
Some of his numbers have dipped in the two years since, but he still remains the team’s most reliable three-point shooter and is averaging just over 40% from behind the ark this season.
