Astros honor Santa Fe High School shooting victims

Houston Astros

Before their most recent home game, the Houston Astros honored the victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting by wearing green “We Play for Santa Fe” t-shirts during batting practice.

The Astros are hosting a raffle during their two-game series against the San Francisco Giants and will donate the proceeds to the Santa Fe Strong Memorial Fund.

The Astros reached out to Santa Fe High School to find ways to offer support for those in need in the local community. The organization will continue to look for ways to help Santa Fe during this time.

“Our organization as in contact with people to see if it would offer support and offer, certainly, our attention,” manager A.J. Hinch said, via The Houston Chronicle. “It’s one of the smallest things we can do to continue the conversation about what happened not too long ago.”

According to Santa Fe updates, money will aid those impacted by the shooting through covering funeral costs, medical bills and further assistance for victims and their families.
