Arizona Coyotes sign defenseman Vladislav Provolnev for 2021-22 season

The Arizona Coyotes signed free agent defenseman Vladislav Provolnev to a one-year contract for the 2021-22 season on Friday. Terms were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to sign Vladislav,” general manager Bill Armstrong said in a news release. “He is a big, strong defenseman who skates well and plays a physical style. He also has a good shot and can contribute offensively. He will be another good blueline prospect for us.”

The 25-year-old Russian has 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) and 50 penalty minutes in 48 games this season with the Severstal Cherepovets in the Kontinental Hockey League. He has five game-winning goals, five power-play goals and 87 hits.

Provolnev has 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) and 255 penalty minutes in 240 career games with Severstal and Spartak Moskva.
