Angels star Mike Trout sidelined with foot injury

The Los Angeles Angels will not have star outfielder and MVP candidate Mike Trout on the field when they take on the Texas Rangers Wednesday evening.

Angels manager Brad Ausmus noted ahead of the game that Trout will sit the game out after dealing with a minor injury to his right foot. Ausmus did note that it was more of a precaution with an off day for the team on Thursday.

It still has to be of some concern for the Angels. At this point in the season, the team’s relevance around the league is based solely on Mr. Trout.

Los Angeles heads into Wednesday’s action with a 64-70 record and completely out of the American Playoff Playoff race.

For his part, Trout continues to put up numbers that we’ve rarely seen in the modern history of the game. He’s hitting .293 with 43 homers and 100 RBI while leading the AL in on-base percentage, walks, slugging percentage and OPS.
