Angels All-Star Tommy La Stella suffers apparent serious injury

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels game against the Texas Rangers in Arlington Tuesday evening seemed pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

It came one day after Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs tragically died at the age of just 27 in the team hotel.

After Monday’s game was cancelled, the Angels and Rangers took to the field with heavy hearts.

While it does not compare in any way to Skaggs passing, Angels All-Star Tommy La Stella suffered an apparent serious leg injury after he fouled a ball off his knee in the sixth inning. Reports from Texas are not great.

A first-time All-Star, La Stella entered Tuesday’s game hitting .304 with 16 homers, 44 RBI and a .856 OPS.

The hope here is that this injury is not as serious as it seems.
