Andre Iguodala on the Thunder: ‘They were the best team’

The Golden State Warriors won a NBA record 73 games a season ago. Though, they fell short of their ultimate goal of repeating as champs after LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals.

To most skeptics out there, these are the two best teams in the Association. They have been for the past couple seasons.

Apparently Warriors forward and 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala doesn’t seem to think so.

In an interview on a syndicated New York City-based radio show on Thursday, Iggy admitted that the Oklahoma City Thunder may have been the best team in last year’s playoffs.

“Now that we got KD (Kevin Durant), I can say it. They (the Thunder) were the best team last year in the league … in the playoffs,” Iguodala said. “They were better than us. They were better than Cleveland.”

Okay, two things come to mind here.

First off, Oklahoma City did have a 3-1 series lead over Golden State in the Western Conference Finals before losing three consecutive games to the now two-time defending conference champs.

Secondly, as Iggy notes, it’s easy for him to draw this conclusion now that Durant has moved on from Oklahoma City to join his Warriors.

At this point, there really isn’t much debate about who the best team in the Association is. While Cleveland did defeat Golden State to win the title, the latter added one of the top-three players in the entire NBA.

That makes the Warriors the odds-on favorites to win the title this upcoming season.
