After having a better season than Adrian Peterson in 2013, Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy claimed that he was the best running back in the NFL. The only problem here is Peterson isn’t taking McCoy’s comments too seriously.

According to Fox Sports…
He didn’t really mean it,” Peterson said Tuesday. “If you watched his response (he didn’t mean it). I’ve got to give the young guy credit because there is nothing wrong having confidence in yourself. But, you’ve got to speak with more truth. He’s a heck of a running back and I like his style, so I won’t get on him too much.
To McCoy’s credit, he did outperform Peterson in 2013, leading the league with 1,607 rushing yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns.
I guess McCoy’s first-place ranking is short-lived, as ESPN’s running back rankings were just posted and they’ve got Peterson projected back up on top. This likely stemmed from Peterson’s comments about McCoy, which definitely went in the route of taking the high road.

What also is kind of funny is that Peterson stating McCoy is young. They’re just four years apart, but that’s more of an eternity with all the pounding running backs endure on their bodies through the years. McCoy is the two-year old energetic lab and Peterson is the 10-year old experienced shepherd.
