Aaron Rodgers Responds to Magic Johnson’s Odd Comparison

NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson isn’t necessarily known too well for his Twitter game. In fact, it may be one of the worst celebrity accounts out there.

True to his reputation, Magic made the obvious look even more obvious on the social media site.

He then went on to expand on this tweet.

Rodgers is playing elite football right now and may in fact be the best quarterback on the planet. He has his Packers at 7-3 and tied for first in the NFC North heading into Week 12. Showing and uncanny ability to up his game after initial team-wide struggles, Rodgers has thrown 27 touchdowns compared to two interceptions since a Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The MVP candidate also took some time to respond to Johnson’s praise during his weekly interview on ESPN Wisconsin.

To be compared to Larry, who I know Magic has the utmost amount of respect for, is way too big of a compliment…And I really appreciate that from Magic. I have a ton of respect for him and his career and what he’s done, and the philanthropic things he’s done off the court, as well.

However, Rodgers would rather be compared to a lesser-known NBA legend.

The only one that could possibly compare would be maybe if he had said something about Vlade Divac,” Rodgers said. “But I’ll take Larry Bird.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to those who follow Rodgers on Twitter.

Let’s just hope for the Packers’ sake, Rodgers himself is compared more to Bird and his three championships than a player in Divac who is better known for being traded for Kobe Bryant.
