Aaron Donald training camp question sparks hilarious Sean McVay quote

Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald has missed the past two training camps due to contract disputes with the Los Angeles Rams, but that hasn’t stopped him from being the most dominant defender in the NFL.

Donald was the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year despite missing two games, and he appears to be on his way to a repeat after racking up 20.5 sacks this past season.

With that in mind, a reporter asked Rams head coach Sean McVay on Saturday if Donald would need to attend training camp in 2019, given his dominance the past two seasons after skipping the annual summer event.

McVay’s response (h/t Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire) was legendary: “He better with all that money we’re paying him. Jeez!”

McVay did hit on one point that even Donald would likely agree with, which is that he’s gotten off to slow starts in both of the past two seasons without training camp.

That said, it might not hurt to give the big guy a few days off over the summer to keep him fresh next year.
