Aaron Judge has been out of commission due to a fractured wrist longer than the New York Yankees anticipated, but on Friday manager Aaron Boone continued to stay positive about the situation.
Discussing the recent addition of former San Francisco Giants outfielder Andrew McCutchen, Boone also addressed Judge’s injury.
“We’re still optimistic in the plan,” Boone said, per Cole Harvey of ESPN. “The belief is he’ll be back with plenty of time” for the team’s stretch run toward the postseason.
Judge has been out of New York’s lineup ever since he was hit by a pitch back on July 26. At the time of his initial injury, it was thought that Judge would be swinging a bat within weeks, but to this point he remains unable to take that critical step in his recovery.
On the season, Judge has hit .285/.398/.548 with 26 home runs and 61 RBI in just 99 games.
