Five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. announced his commitment to home-state Texas on Saturday.

Banks is the No. 2-ranked offensive tackle and the No. 15 overall player in the nation in the Class of 2022 on the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Banks plays at Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas.

“Staying home !! HOOK’EM,” he posted to Twitter, along with an illustration of himself in a Longhorns uniform.

Banks becomes the highest-ranked player to commit to play for coach Steve Sarkisian in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Texas currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big 12 and No. 7 in the nation, and the Longhorns remain squarely in the mix for another five-star offensive lineman, Devon Campbell of Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas.

Campbell has yet to choose a program in advance of the early national signing period, which opens Wednesday. He is the No. 1-ranked offensive lineman and No. 10 overall by the 247Sports composite.
